To Style or Not.. Only One Way - Style It Your Way To Style or Not.. Only One Way - Style It Your Way

I’ve heard it a lot; to style or not to style if you are just working from home. Now let us just not look at those who are paid to work from home, there are those who are also mothers and fathers, grandparents (all working from home), children (usually playing from home).

A common thing I hear is nobody sees me around the home, so why should I bother.

Or: I work behind a computer and I’m not seen, so there is no point.

Or: maybe it’s based on time, who has time to style their hair if nobody is going to see it anyway.

As you get the kernel of my sharing here, it appears that styling your hair from home may not be as common as we assume. A quick brush to the hair before you jump on the teams meeting sound familiar; or the camera is off as you don’t want to be seen by anyone.

I go back to the basic rituals of life: we brush our teeth and wash our face in the mornings, some moisturise, whilst others shower. We all have our things we “do” when we jump out of bed.

So why wouldn’t we do our hair again.

Commonly, I’ve heard, I didn’t have time to brush my hair this morning… hmm…and yes people have come into the studio without their hair brushed.  Once again, no judgment, it is all about lifestyle. Get it! = our style in life forever changing.

It makes me ponder. Is there a level of disregard if the hair is not styled, not only for us, but for others looking at us for inspiration. But start with you and you first. Not to mention how wholesome we feel when our hair is styled; from top to toe, we are complete when our hair is schmick, and others will notice and comment if they too are inspired by your look.

I often hear from guests -- “why can’t I start the day with you”, i.e... why can’t you do my hair every day 😊. Well, you can, I love starting early, haha..

How great does it feel to have your hair styled when you leave the hairdressers. It is no different to when you start your day every day with your hair styled.

What’s in a style, it doesn’t have to be anything fancy. It would be simply washed or brushed into place. Maybe straightening is your thing or a few waves to add a spring in your step, I mean the bounce in your hair.

Nurture yourself enough to care about your hair at the start of the day and see if it makes a difference to your day and how you feel.  You may have heard of the phrase – “it won’t happen overnight, but it will happen”. Guess what, change can be instant if you want it to be.

On the other hand, a study by the University College of London found it takes 66 days on average for a new behaviour to become automatic. We aren’t going to be a task master on this but we do love hearing feedback on how it may have changed your days. Don’t be harsh if you miss a day here and there.

The hair you love today, will be here and there for you tomorrow.
